Advocacy Workshop
7:00pm
1314 Rosewood Dr
The past year has been extremely tough for the LGBTQ+ community from a legislative perspective, especially for those of us here in South Carolina. Anti-trans legislation was proposed over six times and eventually passed into law. Censorship in education and banning books are at the forefront of the legislative debate for the next cycle, as well as medical autonomy and refusal of service. South Carolina could be the next state to adopt “Don’t Say Gay” legislation and lawmakers have been vocal about their opposition to trans-affirming care.
If this feels overwhelming to you, you are not alone! What do we do to protect our community and fight back? Join us for an interactive advocacy workshop with local lobbyists to learn more about what has already happened, what’s on the horizon, and how you can effectively advocate to make a difference. The event is free, but we ask that you RSVP here. This event is in collaboration with The Agape Table and SC Pride.
